Deleting your Switchback account
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, and it costs nothing. Here is how, and exactly what goes.
If you can sign in
- Sign in, in the app or at switchbackmoney.com.
- Open Settings (“More” on a phone).
- Scroll to the bottom and choose Delete account.
- Type “delete” to confirm.
It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
If you can't sign in
Try resetting your password from the sign-in screen first. If you no longer have access to the email address, write to support@everydaycompasslife.com with the email address on the account and “Delete my account” in the subject. We’ll need to confirm the account is yours before deleting it, and it will be done within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your login: email address, password, and any two-step sign-in enrolment.
- Every household that only you sign in to, and everything in it — income, bills, debts, imported transactions, rules, savings funds and vault entries.
- Your membership of any household you share: your name, email and access are removed.
- Any invitations still waiting for your email address.
What is kept
- Shared households. Their budget belongs to the other members too, so it stays with them. Entries you added remain, no longer linked to you.
- Backups. Our database provider’s routine backups may hold deleted data for a short period before they age out. They are not used to restore individual accounts.
- Store records. Apple or Google keep their own records of any subscription purchase, under their policies.
If you’re the only owner of a household other people still use, you’ll be asked to make one of them an owner first, so the household isn’t left with no one in charge.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel it in your store account settings, or it will keep renewing. The support page has the steps.
